Alta VistaClient reporting for accounting firms
Reports for your clients.
Quick work for you.
Alta Vista turns your QuickBooks close into a clean, branded client portal: the numbers that matter with month-over-month context, trend charts, full statements, and your commentary — all at one link your clients can always find. Simple to run, genuinely useful to receive.
Everything you see is the working product. The client demo opens real portals for two fictional companies — Acme Grocery, a $24M grocer, and San Bruno Building Co., a $50M general contractor with a live work-in-progress schedule. The accountant demo opens a private sandbox copy of the whole practice, yours to edit and publish.
Problem one
The month-end close is eating your lunch.
Alta Vista turns the close into a system: automated — the numbers, statements, and open questions arrive from QuickBooks as a draft; customized — each client's own metrics, targets, and close checklist; simple — one routine, sync → review → publish; professional — a branded portal instead of PDF attachments; and persistent — every month archived with trends, history, and statements clients can always reach.
Problem two
You're not sure how to get the best out of your data — or AI.
Your clients' books already hold the answers — what changed, which vendor grew, where the cash went — but pulling them out takes hours nobody has, and nobody wants to hand client financials to a chatbot. Alta Vista is AI done the way a financial practice needs it: clients ask about their own published numbers and get exact answers; your staff get an investigator that cross-examines the books before anything goes out. Published data only, every conversation logged, never used to train AI models.
Start where it hurts. Every piece is optional — including the AI, which stays off until you switch it on, client by client. Run a clean, fully professional close first; add what your practice needs from there.
The portal
Everything a monthly deliverable needs.
QuickBooks sync
Connect a client's QuickBooks once; every month's metrics, statements, and open questions arrive as a draft for your review. Nothing is client-visible until you publish.
A dashboard clients understand
Revenue, profit, and cash up top with month-over-month change that names its baseline; margins and the custom metrics each client cares about beneath — plus your commentary.
Full financial statements
P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow as aligned 13-month tables in the portal, with branded Excel and PDF downloads generated on demand.
Trend charts & targets
Thirteen-month trend lines for any metric, with target lines your team sets — so progress against plan is visible at a glance.
Transactions to review
Uncategorized and questioned transactions flow from QuickBooks to the client, who picks the right account or leaves a note — no more email chains of screenshots.
Spend reports to Google Sheets
Per-client cash-out reports rendered into a live Google Sheet your client can open, with drill-down detail linking back to each QuickBooks transaction.
Your month, with Alta Vista
- 1 · Sync. The close lands as a draft: metrics, statements, questioned transactions.
- 2 · Review. Skim the draft beside last month's values, run your checklist, add commentary.
- 3 · Publish. Clients see a clean monthly report at the same link as always.
For your team
An admin built around the monthly close.
Staff manage everything from one place: a month strip per client showing what's live, drafted, or missing; a period editor with prior-month ghost values; one-click publish and revert; and the close checklist your team actually follows — tickable by humans, runnable by the AI.
Screenshots from the live demo install — the same product, running for a fictional firm. Click any screenshot to enlarge it.
Or try the admin yourself.
One click opens a private sandbox: your own copy of both demo companies, yours to edit, publish, and reorganize. Nothing you do is saved past your visit.
When questions come up
Plain-English answers, built in.
For your clients: Ask Claude
Clients can ask questions about their own published reports — “how did revenue compare to March?”, “what did we spend on marketing this year?” — and get answers quoting their exact figures, instead of emailing you. It sees only what you've published, does its arithmetic on a server-side calculator (never in its head), and refers advice questions back to you. Every conversation is kept, and your team can review each exchange.
For your staff: the investigator
Your team gets a deeper assistant with read-only investigative tools over stored reporting and live QuickBooks data. It chains lookups on its own — accounts, monthly activity, transaction detail — and answers with citations: transaction ids, dates, payees, amounts. Point it at your month-end checklist and it runs the pre-close review, flagging what looks off before your client sees a draft.
Built like financial software, not a chatbot bolt-on: clients only ever see published data, every conversation is logged and rate-limited, nothing your clients ask or share is ever used to train AI models — and it stays off until you turn it on, client by client.
On the roadmap: more sources to cross-examine alongside QuickBooks — Shopify, bank feeds, payroll and more — plus support for clients who aren't on QuickBooks at all.
